I spent 3.5 years as a forensics contractor with the Department of Defense. (1 year in Afghanistan and 2.5 years in West Virginia, US.) I obtained both a Secret and Top Secret DoD clearance. I have been with Allied Universal since Feb 2015 on a financial services account. I started as an Executive Protection Officer and was promoted to shift supervisor. In 2017 I became the account manager over the market responsible for the day-to-day operations of 5 locations. My AOR increased to include the larger market. I was promoted to the Assistant Portfolio Manager in 2018 and Portfolio Manager in 2019. My responsibilities include day to day operations for the entire book of business, compliance, reporting, emergency coverage request, employee issues, client relations, and QBRs. I have also led a SERT team both in preparation and in the field operations. I have deployed in NC and FL with the teams since 2018 as a field manager for hurricane recovery. I am a former NC Private Protective Board-certified Armed and current Unarmed security officer instructor. I have been previously certified as an OC and ASP instructor (Handcuff/Baton/Tactical Flashlight). I am an active member of our local ASIS Piedmont Chapter (82). I have previously served on the training committee for the NC Association of Arson Investigators and as a member of the board of directors for the Chesapeake Bay Division of the International Association for Investigation. I have spent my adult life in some form of emergency services. I started as a volunteer firefighter as a teenager. I have worked in fire, EMS, rescue, and law enforcement since that time. I currently volunteer as a Firefighter/EMT/Chaplain with my local station.

James Byrd joined Wake Forest University in January 2010. His current responsibilities include overseeing the Physical Security Technology and Deacon OneCard staff, card access, cameras, master planning, capital projects and improvements. While under his direction, the physical security technology inventory has more than doubled in size and scope for cameras, card readers, and other associated security technology. Prior to this position James worked for sixteen years at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in Facilities Management where among other things he helped to rebuild a flooded campus following Hurricane Katrina. James has degrees from Gardner-Webb University and from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has earned the CPP through ASIS and is a Certified Educational Facilities Professional CEFP with the Association of Physical Plant Administrators.
